Agilysys Hits Record Highs in PMS Sales and Surmountable Challenging Phase in POS Sales

Agilysys Hits Record Highs in PMS Sales and Surmountable Challenging Phase in POS Sales

Agilysys, the hospitality-focused software solutions company, reported significant milestones in its recent conference call. Despite facing challenges in point-of-sale (POS) sales, particularly in the managed food services vertical, the company showed resilience and optimism for future growth.

The third quarter of fiscal 2025 was a success for Agilysys, with the best-ever October to December sales period for POS-related products. However, the sales fell short of expectations mainly due to disappointing levels in the managed food services vertical. The CEO, Ramesh Srinivasan, acknowledged that crossing the technology old-to-new transformation bridge turned out to be more challenging than anticipated.

Despite this setback, Agilysys remains confident that POS sales will return to normal levels in the next few quarters and then improve further. The company is currently working on several significant near-term POS sales opportunities. Notably, virtually all current POS implementations involved only modernized and unified versions, which are performing well.

The highlight of Agilysys's Q3 was its record-breaking sales quarter for Property Management Systems (PMS) and PMS-related add-on modules. Sales in this segment were 70% higher than the comparable prior year quarter, excluding Book4Time. This performance has already made fiscal 2025 the company's best sales year for PMS and related modules ahead of the previous full-year record by as much as 33%

The transformation process from old to new technology has proven to be simpler and more manageable with respect to PMS compared to POS. Agilysys is optimistic about its future prospects, particularly in the gaming casinos vertical where a turnaround is beginning to happen. The company also reported continued success in U.S. domestic sales.

While international sales remained at disappointing levels, Agilysys cited substantial sales opportunities currently being worked on and expressed optimism that this could be a record quarter for international sales in Q4.
