Alico Posts Record-Breaking Q3 Earnings, Raises FY26 Guidance
Alico Inc., a leading agricultural and real estate development company, has reported record-breaking third quarter 2026 earnings, with significant cash position and net debt reduction. The company's strong financial performance has led to an increase in its fiscal year 2026 guidance.
According to the Q3 2026 conference call transcript, Alico ended the quarter with $55.6 million in cash and cash equivalents, up $17.5 million since fiscal year-end. This represents the company's strongest balance sheet position since it began its strategic transformation in January 2025.
Alico President and CEO John Kiernan highlighted the significance of this achievement during the conference call, stating, "Our third quarter results reflect a business that is generating cash and building the flexibility to execute our strategy on our own terms." This strong cash position has created net debt of just $29.8 million, giving the company valuable flexibility to advance its entitled real estate development pipeline.
One notable transaction announced during the quarter was an agricultural lease agreement for approximately 3,280 acres in Hendry County. The deal is structured with an option to purchase the property for $29.5 million or $9,000 per acre, demonstrating Alico's commitment to monetizing its land assets.
Kiernan emphasized that this transaction validates the company's land monetization strategy by providing recurring contracted lease income and giving counterparties the ability to acquire land at a fair current market value. The deal also reflects Alico's conservative view of its agricultural land values, which it believes carry substantially more value than is reflected in its current market capitalization.
Alico also acquired the remaining 49% interest in Citree, a joint venture through which it held a 51% interest in approximately 1,200 acres of land within its Joshua Grove in DeSoto County. The company paid $2 million in cash for the remaining interest and took on sole responsibility for outstanding debt, resulting in full control over the future reuse of that property.
The progress made at Corkscrew Grove East Village has been another highlight of Alico's Q3 performance. Following local entitlement approval in April, the project has moved into state and federal permitting, with the company confident of meeting potential construction commencement dates in 2028 or 2029 pending receipt of all required approvals.
The success of these initiatives reflects Alico's strategic focus on maximizing its land assets and executing a long-term vision for growth. As Kiernan noted, "We structured this deal so that it delivers value for us either way, contracted lease income, and a compelling embedded value outcome if the option is exercised down the road."
With these positive developments and strong financial performance, Alico has raised its fiscal year 2026 guidance. The company's confidence in its strategy and growth prospects continues to drive investor interest in this agricultural and real estate development leader.
