AST SpaceMobile Accelerates Global Cellular Broadband Network Expansion

AST SpaceMobile, a pioneering company in the field of space-based cellular connectivity, has marked a significant milestone in its mission to provide seamless and continuous coverage across the globe. In its recently concluded Q1 2025 business update call, the company revealed an impressive array of achievements, solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.

With over 5 billion mobile phones in use worldwide, AST SpaceMobile aims to bridge the gaps in coverage and connect billions of people without cellular broadband. To achieve this vision, the company is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space, operating directly with everyday unmodified mobile devices.

Chairman and CEO Abel Avellan took center stage during the conference call, emphasizing that Q1 was a strong start for the company as it accelerates the launch and scaling of its network. Revenue is now beginning to come in, a testament to the success of their execution on satellite manufacturing, commercialization, and regulatory initiatives.

The company unveiled an ambitious orbital launch plan with 5 scheduled launches over the next 6-9 months. This significant undertaking will drive continuous coverage in key markets such as the United States, Europe, Japan, the U.S. government, and other strategic regions. With an average of one to two orbital launches every month during '25 and '26, AST SpaceMobile is rapidly scaling its constellation.

Satellite manufacturing remains on track, with a target of building 40 Block 2 BlueBird satellites each year. The company has accelerated its efforts to reach the necessary launch cadence, aiming to match or exceed it by reaching a manufacturing cadence of 6 satellites per month during Q4 this year. This achievement will enable continued cellular broadband coverage in key markets.

The production process for microns and phased arrays is also being accelerated, with an expected cadence in the third quarter of '25. The company's extensive IP and patent portfolio are driving speed, certainty, lower costs, flexibility, and reliability throughout its manufacturing ecosystem.

According to Abel Avellan, AST SpaceMobile's position has never been stronger as it leads the industry with cellular broadband from space. With this momentum, the company is poised for continued success in bridging gaps in coverage and connecting billions of people worldwide.
