Broadwind's Precision Manufacturing Pivot: Delivering Strong Growth and Profitability in Q2 2026

Broadwind, a leading precision manufacturing company, has reported strong results for the second quarter of 2026. During the period, the company continued its strategic pivot toward becoming a pure-play precision manufacturing business focused on the domestic power generation and critical infrastructure markets.

Customer demand was robust during the second quarter, with momentum accelerating across Broadwind's key verticals. The company's gearing and industrial solution segments performed well, with industrial solutions generating EBITDA margin of nearly 19% due to strong execution and a higher value sales mix. Within gearing, profitability also improved due to increased sales volume reflective of recent elevated order levels.

Total backlog for Broadwind's industrial solutions and gearing segments increased a combined 93% as of June 30th compared to the prior year period. The company ended the second quarter with a book-to-bill ratio of 1.5 times, indicating strong demand and visibility for future growth. At a segment level, the company's ability to optimize its asset base and human capital has translated to improved operating leverage and visibility.

Broadwind's CEO, Eric Blashford, stated during the conference call that the company is building a precision manufacturing platform positioned to benefit from what it expects will become a sustained multi-year investment cycle in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution. The company believes its gearing and industrial solutions businesses position it for stronger, more stable growth trajectory than at any point in its history.

With a strengthened balance sheet and a streamlined operating structure, Broadwind is actively evaluating opportunities to scale its precision manufacturing expertise through bolt-on acquisitions that meet its strict investment criteria. The company remains constructive on the opportunities it sees in the market and will continue to remain patient yet opportunistic acquirers of complementary precision manufacturing assets.

Within the gearing segment, Q2 orders increased by 138% to $16 million, increasing the backlog to nearly $38 million. Demand growth within the gearing segment has been supported by strong customer activity and power generation, including demand associated with data center-related powering requirements, as well as improving activity within upstream oil and gas.

Broadwind's precision manufacturing pivot has positioned it for long-term success in a market characterized by attractive margin profiles, greater revenue visibility, and the potential for meaningfully improved earnings quality. The company's strategic focus on domestic power generation and critical infrastructure markets is expected to drive sustained multi-year investment cycles.
