Compugen Sets Sights on a Promising 2026 with Q1 Results
In its first quarter 2026 conference call, Compugen shared promising updates on its clinical programs and strategic priorities. The company's President and CEO, Dr. Eran Ophir, welcomed the new Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, Lindsey Trickett, to lead the company's communication with the investor community.
Compugen's progress in the first quarter of 2026 has been marked by the continued execution on its strategic priorities, particularly in its clinical programs. The company has initiated a phase 3 trial for its fully owned program, COM701, which targets PVRIG, an immune checkpoint with unique biology that is differentiated from other checkpoints.
COM701 has shown consistent and durable responses in patients with heavily pretreated platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, as demonstrated by the pooled analysis of clinical data presented at ESMO last year. Compugen has decided to progress the development of COM701 and test it in earlier settings of ovarian cancer as a maintenance therapy in patients who responded to their most recent line of chemotherapy.
The MAIA-ovarian adaptive platform trial was initiated, with sub-study 1 randomizing COM701 as maintenance monotherapy versus placebo in patients with relapsed platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer. The company is actively enrolling patients across the U.S., Israel, and France, and expects to complete enrollment on schedule for having median PFS data at interim analysis by Q1 2027.
The patient population enrolled in the trial represents a significant unmet medical need with no current standard of care, making clear prolongation of PFS in these patients potentially informative for a registration path for COM701. This could make it a potential backbone for drug combinations in this population and enable a broader clinical development plan across earlier and later lines of ovarian cancer treatments, as well as in other indications.
Compugen also expressed happiness over its partner AstraZeneca's progress on their broad rilvegostomig program. The company is poised to make significant strides in 2026, driven by the execution of its strategic priorities and the continued momentum in its clinical programs.
