Ionic Digital Powers Through Q2 2026 with Momentum on Flagship Site and ERCOT's Batch Zero Process

On a recent conference call to discuss their second quarter 2026 earnings, Ionic Digital's leadership highlighted significant developments at the company's flagship site in West Texas. Chief Executive Officer Andy Stewart reported that the first data center has been energized, with cash rent commencing on the Ward County lease. This milestone marks an important step forward for the company as it continues to expand its operations.

Stewart noted that the site, which spans 136 acres and is home to a facility extension agreement with Texas New Mexico Power (TNMP), has already achieved initial energization and operates at a point of interconnection. This existing load allowed TNMP to file the site as base load with ERCOT in July.

However, the company's progress was momentarily paused when ERCOT announced that it would be verifying large-load projects in its interconnection queue. The Batch Zero process was put on hold pending this verification, which is expected to focus on approximately 250-300 projects totaling around 200 gigawatts out of a larger load queue of about 474 gigawatts.

Despite the pause, Stewart expressed confidence that Ionic Digital's filing would be substantiated through this exercise. He noted that the company has already filed extensive documentation and operating history, which will serve it well in the verification process.

Stewart also emphasized Ionic Digital's commitment to complying with applicable state requirements and participating fully in the PUCT and ERCOT verification and audit process. The company believes that a transparent, rules-based process will ultimately work in its favor, allowing it to demonstrate the legitimacy of its request and secure a spot in ERCOT's interconnection queue.

In light of these developments, Ionic Digital's leadership is optimistic about the company's prospects. As Stewart noted, "We believe our request is well-positioned" due to factors such as the execution of the facility extension agreement with TNMP in 2021 and the approval of the first phase by ERCOT that same year.

Overall, Ionic Digital appears to be navigating the complex landscape of data center development in Texas with skill and determination. As it continues to advance its operations, the company is poised to make significant strides forward and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the market.
