Montauk Renewables Surpasses RNG Production Expectations in 2025
Montauk Renewables, a leading renewable energy company, has announced impressive results for the year 2025. Despite the challenges posed by the sale of one of its RNG facilities in 2024, the company managed to achieve growth in RNG production.
Sean McClain, President and Chief Executive Officer of Montauk Renewables, attributed this success to the final tranche of increased contractual feedstock received by the Pico project. The expansion of digestion capacity at this facility allowed for inlet feedstock averages of approximately 458,000 gallons per day, a 17% increase over the contractual minimum.
As a result, Montauk Renewables is currently evaluating additional development expansion opportunities to ensure the beneficial processing of all available feedstock volumes. The company's RNG production from its expanded redesigned facility was approximately 31.8% higher when compared to the previous year, with 2025 production totaling around 11 million gallons.
In addition to these achievements, Montauk Renewables successfully completed the construction and commissioning of its second RNG processing facility at the Apex landfill. This has resulted in a 7.8% increase in RNG production for 2025 compared to the previous year.
The company's joint venture with GreenWave Energy Partners has also seen significant progress, providing third-party RNG volumes access to exclusive and proprietary transportation pathways. During 2025, Montauk Renewables received 706,000 RINs and recorded income of $1.5 million through its ownership percentage of the joint venture.
