Semtech Shines Bright in Q1 2027 with Record Revenue and Strong Earnings Growth

Semtech Corporation has kicked off fiscal year 2027 on a high note, delivering record quarterly revenue supported by very strong bookings and backlog. The company's President and Chief Executive Officer, Hong Hou, expressed his conviction in Semtech's positioning, citing the transformation he has seen across employees, motivation to engage and partner with the ecosystem, and an appreciation for collaboration.

During a recent earnings conference call, Hou shared that Semtech drove strong sequential and year-over-year revenue and earnings growth, expanded its data center and LoRa design win pipeline, all while advancing research and development (R&D) and strategic initiatives. He emphasized the company's robust foundation to solidify and expand its presence in key markets.

Key highlights from the quarter include revenue of $291 million, up 6% sequentially and up 16% year-over-year, driven by continued outperformance in both data center and LoRa segments. Adjusted diluted earnings per share were $0.51, a 34% increase year-over-year. The company is also focused on executing portfolio optimization initiatives, with the divestiture process for its cellular module business nearing completion.

In terms of end markets, Semtech reported strong growth in infrastructure net sales, which reached $98.8 million, up 14% sequentially and up 36% year-over-year. This is largely attributed to the company's growing data center business, with net sales for data centers reaching a record $71.6 million, up 14% sequentially and up 39% year-over-year.

Within the data center segment, Semtech cited strong demand across its broad portfolio, sustained customer engagement, portfolio alignment, and supply assurance as key factors contributing to its success. The company's FiberEdge portfolio played a significant role in this growth, with its leading TIA solutions experiencing exceptionally strong demand, driven by differentiated technology and ability to supply.

Notably, established and emerging module suppliers have qualified Semtech on several new sockets, some on a sole source basis, further solidifying the company's position in the data center market. These developments demonstrate Semtech's commitment to advancing its R&D and strategic initiatives, underscoring the company's confidence in its ability to remain at the forefront of industry trends."
