Standard Motor Products Achieves Record-Setting Second Quarter Results

Standard Motor Products has announced its impressive second quarter 2026 earnings results, showcasing a significant growth in top-line revenue and record-breaking adjusted EBITDA. In an investor call held on August 4th, the company's CEO Eric Sills highlighted key achievements from the quarter.

The overall top line grew by nearly 7% when adjusting for tariff refunds received in the period, with year-to-date growth reaching 8%. This substantial increase is a testament to the company's strategic efforts and market demand. The adjusted EBITDA reached a record-setting $63.5 million in the quarter, accompanied by strong operating cash flows.

Eric Sills took a moment to walk through each operating segment separately, commencing with Vehicle Control sales. Although down slightly in the quarter, customer point-of-sale (POS) was up, demonstrating that this was more related to typical flexing of their purchasing patterns rather than a decline in demand. The wire set business within this segment experienced significant losses due to its secular decline.

In contrast, the company's Temperature Control segment saw an impressive 16% growth in adjusted sales for the quarter. This strong performance can be attributed to the favorable weather conditions experienced across much of the country, which have led to increased demand for heating and cooling products. As always, management stressed that individual quarters are less important than the full year, with a particular emphasis on the upcoming third quarter's very strong comp.

Nissens Automotive, Standard Motor Products' European aftermarket business, also experienced growth in the second quarter. Sales were up nearly 5%, driven by sizable gains in engine efficiency products, such as turbos and other engine management parts. This category is expected to continue performing well due to increasing demand for high-efficiency components.

The company has shown great optimism regarding its recent launch of two new categories in Europe, which leverage synergies with the legacy business. Although still in its early days without significant impact on numbers, Standard Motor Products is pleased with its momentum and sees potential for further growth.
