Bilibili Delivers Strong Q1 2025 Performance, Setting Stage for Continued Growth

Bilibili, one of China's leading entertainment and media platforms, has reported a solid start to the year with its Q1 2025 financial results. In a conference call held on April 12, the company's senior management team provided an update on its business performance and outlook.
The key highlight from Bilibili's Q1 2025 results is the acceleration of total revenues, which grew by 24% year-over-year to RMB 7 billion. This significant growth was driven by strong performances in the company's high-margin advertising and game businesses. Advertising revenues rose 20% year-over-year to RMB 2 billion, supported by ongoing product enhancements and infrastructure upgrades.
The company's games business also saw a notable increase, with revenues rising 76% year-over-year to RMB 1.73 billion. This growth in high-margin businesses, combined with operating efficiency, provided Bilibili with greater operating leverage. As a result, the company's gross profit increased by 58% year-over-year, with gross profit margin expanding to 36.3%, up from 28.3% in the same period last year.
Bilibili's strong financial performance was accompanied by growth in its community and user engagement. The company reported a record-breaking 368 million monthly active users (MAUs) and 107 million daily active users (DAUs). Additionally, users' average daily time spent on the platform reached a new high of 108 minutes.
The CEO, Rui Chen, highlighted the company's commitment to quality content and community engagement. He stated that Bilibili has built a community known for its best content and will continue to prioritize and promote quality above all else. This focus on quality is reflected in the company's numbers, with users spending an average of 108 minutes on the platform every day compared to 105 minutes in the same period last year.
Bilibili's user engagement metrics also showed strong growth, with monthly paying users reaching an all-time high of 32 million and official member count reaching 264 million by the end of Q1, up 12% from last year. The company's content categories, including its core ACG (Anime, Comics, and Games) content, continue to thrive.
Looking ahead, Bilibili is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of its users, particularly Gen Z+, who are craving high-quality video content. With a strong focus on community engagement, quality content, and commercialization, the company is poised for continued growth in the future.
