DaVita Embarks on its Next Chapter: Celebrating 25 Years of Excellence in Kidney Care

In a major milestone for the company, DaVita recently celebrated its 25th anniversary of delivering exceptional kidney care services to millions of patients worldwide. As it embarks on this new chapter, DaVita's leadership remains committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in healthcare.

During the recent Q4 2024 conference call, CEO Javier Rodriguez highlighted the company's remarkable clinical progress over the past quarter century. "We've worked tirelessly to increase access to care for patients, especially those living in rural areas," he stated. With more than 4 out of every 5 patients now treating at home, and over 80% using connected cyclers, DaVita has successfully transitioned from being a dialysis provider to a comprehensive kidney care company.

This shift in approach has enabled the company to address each step in the Kidney Care journey. Through its Kidney Smart program, DaVita has provided free education on managing chronic kidney disease to over 300,000 people. The Integrated Kidney Care (IKC) initiative has also enabled successful partnerships with health plans and CMS, providing holistic patient care in addressing rising healthcare costs.

DaVita's commitment to quality of care extends beyond the United States, with a presence in 13 countries outside its home market. In these international markets, the company has consistently outperformed clinical benchmarks, delivering better outcomes and improving millions of lives worldwide.

Turning to the Q4 2024 performance, DaVita's adjusted operating income and adjusted EPS saw year-over-year growth of 21% and 26%, respectively, despite several unique hurdles, including Change Healthcare outage and hurricane disruption of its supply chain. The company continues to benefit from innovation in revenue cycle operations, with enhanced collection performance and contracting propelling higher revenue per treatment growth.

However, treatment volume growth was below expectations due to supply constraints affecting new patient starts for peritoneal dialysis solutions. Despite this, DaVita remains committed to its core values of delivering exceptional care and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in healthcare.

"We're far from done," said Rodriguez during the conference call. "Our vision is to continue our unwavering pursuit of a healthier tomorrow." As DaVita embarks on this next chapter, it remains an exciting time for the company, its patients, and the wider healthcare community."
