Hesai Group Accelerates Leadership in Automotive Lidar Market with Impressive Q1 Results

During its First Quarter 2025 Earnings Conference Call, Hesai Group presented an outstanding performance across various business segments and financial metrics. The company witnessed a significant surge in shipments of lidar units, nearing the 200,000 mark, which more than tripled year-over-year despite typical seasonal patterns.
As a direct result of this explosive growth, Hesai's net revenue experienced an almost 50% jump on a year-over-year basis. Furthermore, through impressive execution, operational discipline and cost control, the company was able to reduce its net loss by a remarkable 84% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Hesai Group continues to assert its leadership within the automotive lidar market. The company secured the top spot as global leader for the fourth consecutive year, according to Yole Intelligence's analysis. This achievement is reflected in Hesai holding a 33% share of the global automotive lidar market, a 26% share of the global passenger car lidar market, and an impressive 61% share of the global robotaxi market.
The company's ADAS segment also experienced accelerated momentum. The 2025 Shanghai Auto Show featured over 100 vehicle models showcasing cutting-edge lidar technology, with Hesai standing out as its technology was used in 12 OEMs at the show. Among production models making their debut, Hesai had the highest number of model integrations.
ATX lidar has played a pivotal role in this growth, embodying the company's core belief that safety is not optional and should never be second-best. This ultra-compact sensor offers best-in-class performance within its pricing category, making it an affordable choice for automakers.
Hesai secured design wins with 12 major OEMs in May for ATX, including Li Auto's entire L-series EV lineup, which will integrate the ATL lidar variant as a standard configuration. Zeekr also partnered with Hesai to integrate ATX across several top-selling models, including its luxury shooting-brake sedan.
Additionally, ATX secured partnerships with other leading OEMs such as Great Wall Motors' EV brand Aura, Chery's iCAR New Energy lineup, and the upcoming model from Geely, targeting the mass market. With these design wins, ATX entered mass production in Q1 2025 and achieved significant success by shipping nearly 40,000 units within its first quarter on the market.
ATX played a key role in Leapmotor's B10 launch, which saw over 15,000 orders within the first hour of its release in March. More than 70% of these orders opted for the lidar-equipped version of the vehicle, reflecting ATX's strong appeal in the mass market.
Hesai secured a landmark order from Leapmotor for 200,000 units of its ATX lidar technology to power various production models starting in 2025. This deal underscores Hesai Group's leadership position within the automotive lidar market and its commitment to delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of OEMs and consumers alike."
