Intrepid Potash Achieves Milestone Production Levels and Secures Crucial Fertilizer Project Funding

Intrepid Potash, a leading domestic critical mineral producer, has made significant strides in the third quarter of 2026. According to their recent conference call transcript, the company achieved milestone production levels at its Trio® facility, exceeding expectations and positioning itself for annual production of over 300,000 tons.

Speaking during the call, Kevin Crutchfield, Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the importance of execution in achieving this goal. "We increased production in Trio® during the third quarter," he said. "This operating performance supports a 10,000-ton increase in our full-year 2026 Trio® production guidance and positions us to target annual production of more than 300,000 tons, a goal we didn't expect to achieve until sometime in 2027."

The company's focus on execution is complemented by its strategy for unlocking value through organic growth investment. This approach is centered around increasing production while moving down the cost curve through operational excellence and leveraging transportation cost advantages in core markets.

Zach Adams, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, discussed the market backdrop for both potash and Trio®, noting that consistent execution, rigorous cost controls, and strategic organic growth investments can unlock earnings potential. "We believe that potential growth in demand for sulfur nutrition could support this opportunity over time," he said.

One significant development announced during the call is the USDA's selection of Intrepid Potash's proposed sulfate of potash (SOP) project near Carlsbad, New Mexico, for approximately $139 million in matching funding through its FIELDS program. The facility would have an annual production capacity of approximately 220,000 tons, introducing a new product to the company's portfolio and expanding its presence in specialty fertilizer markets.

This project is considered pivotal for Intrepid Potash, enabling the company to turn American minerals into a fertilizer product that American farmers need. It remains subject to completion of the award process, fulfillment of grant conditions, and a final investment decision, which is currently targeted for late 2027.

The company's progress in the third quarter of 2026 demonstrates its commitment to achieving strategic goals and capital discipline. The funding secured for the SOP project marks an important step forward in realizing this vision, further solidifying Intrepid Potash's position as a leading domestic critical mineral producer."
