Maravai LifeSciences Exceeds Expectations with 10% Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth in Q3 2026

Maravai LifeSciences, a leading provider of contract research and development services, has reported an impressive performance in the third quarter of 2026. According to the company's earnings call transcript, Maravai generated revenue of $45.9 million, representing a 10% year-over-year growth.

The company's CEO, Bernd Brust, attributed this success to solid execution across the business and reinforced confidence in both the near-term outlook and long-term strategy. TriLink, one of Maravai's subsidiaries, saw a significant increase in revenue, with a 12% year-over-year growth led by strong demand for its mRNA products. Notably, mRNA revenue grew by 28%, with GMP consumables increasing by 30% and discovery mRNA growing by 27%.

The company's CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) segment also performed well, with revenue growth of 8%. However, specialty chemistry experienced a decline of 4%, primarily due to the absence of high-volume CleanCap revenue for commercial-phase COVID vaccine programs in the quarter.

From a profitability standpoint, Maravai's adjusted gross margin expanded by more than 1,700 basis points year-over-year to 57.7%. The company's adjusted EBITDA improved by $16.6 million-$5.8 million, reflecting higher revenue and favorable product mix.

The transcript also highlights the significant clinical progress made in mRNA therapies during Q3. Maravai reported on several landmark developments, including an investigational mRNA protein replacement therapy for a severe inherited liver disease showing meaningful phase II clinical activity across key metabolic biomarkers. Additionally, a single-dose LNP-delivered base editing therapy for a severe inherited condition affecting the lungs and liver entered a global pivotal cohort intended to support a request for U.S. accelerated approval.

Bernd Brust emphasized that while not every program will succeed, Maravai's diverse pipeline matters in this context. The company supports over 50 GMP customers in 2026, with each customer having two to three clinical programs on average. As these programs progress from early-stage studies to pivotal trials and commercialization, they require greater volumes of higher-quality GMP-grade materials, directly linking clinical progress to long-term growth.

Maravai's CEO expressed pride in the company's role in bringing mRNA therapies to patients, citing the key contributions of customers, partners, and employees. With this impressive performance, Maravai LifeSciences continues to establish itself as a leading player in the contract research and development services industry.
