Mistras Group Continues Transformation with Strong Q2 2026 Results

Mistras Group, Inc. reported another quarter of impressive growth in its second quarter (Q2) 2026 earnings call, solidifying the company's position as a leader in the industrial market.

The company's revenue increased by 4.2% to $193 million, marking the fourth consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth. This performance is a testament to Mistras' ability to adapt and thrive in an increasingly diversified and technology-enabled industry.

Natalia Shuman, President and Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the company's progress towards its Vision 2030 transformation plan during the earnings call. She noted that the shift in business mix towards high-margin end markets with deeper customer relationships and greater long-term visibility has driven growth in key sectors such as aerospace and defense.

Aerospace and defense revenue grew by 13.2% year-over-year, with a significant increase in in-lab testing business. This segment continues to be a primary growth engine for the company, with demand outpacing capacity due to a healthy backlog and strong customer relationships. To address this capacity constraint, Mistras is investing heavily to expand its in-lab testing operations through automation and throughput enhancements.

Infrastructure and power also saw significant growth, with revenue increasing by 28% in the aggregate. In contrast, oil and gas revenue declined by 8.2%, primarily due to customer program exits and deferred maintenance activities amid elevated commodity prices. However, after adjusting for these factors, oil and gas revenue was up 1% in the second quarter, and the company expects this trend to continue.

Edward Prajzner, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, emphasized the importance of Mistras' diversified platform during the earnings call. He noted that while the oil and gas sector has faced headwinds, the company's resilience lies in its ability to shift towards higher-margin end markets with greater long-term visibility.

Record second-quarter adjusted EBITDA of $25.8 million was achieved, demonstrating operating leverage in Mistras' model while significantly improving free cash flow by $23.9 million quarter-over-quarter. This performance positions the business for higher growth and value in the future.

The company's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction is evident through its strategic investments in automation, throughput enhancements, and capacity expansion. By continuously adapting to changing market conditions, Mistras has established itself as a leader in the industrial market, poised for continued success in the years to come."
