Niu Technologies Powers Ahead with 24% Year-over-Year Sales Growth in Q2 2026, Driven by Strategic Shifts in China and International Markets
Niu Technologies, a leading manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, has reported a robust 24% year-over-year increase in sales volume to 434,000 units in the second quarter of 2026. This growth is a testament to the company's ability to navigate the complexities of the domestic two-wheeler market in China and make strategic shifts in its international business.
According to Dr. Yan Li, CEO of Niu Technologies, the company's execution of high-quality resilient growth while adapting to the structural adjustments in the Chinese market has been a key factor in this success. "We continue to execute our core mandate of high quality resilient growth while navigating a profound structural adjustment in the domestic two-wheeler market," Dr. Li said.
The company achieved a total revenue of RMB 1.44 billion, representing a year-over-year growth of 14.7%. Gross margin stood at 16%, driven by factors such as active promotional sales clearance and inventory write-off of the international micro-mobility business, structural product mix shift towards higher volume electric motorcycles in China, and ongoing cost pressure from elevated raw material prices.
In China, Niu Technologies reported a sales volume growth of 26% year-over-year to 400,000 units. This strong volume growth was achieved despite the challenging regulatory and macroeconomic backdrop. The company has strategically reallocated its R&D and product resources in advance to pivot towards high-growth electric motorcycle segments.
The premium e-bicycle segment, historically Niu Technologies' strongest category, experienced a meaningful industry-wide contraction of 25-30% in the first half of the year. However, consumer demand has decisively expanded towards electric motorcycles, especially in lower-tier cities where the motorcycles are not banned. This shift has established a strong foundation for Niu Technologies' next growth phase.
Dr. Li emphasized that the company's execution focused on decisive structural reengineering of its product portfolios during the second quarter. The electric motorcycle category contributed approximately 60% of China sales volume in Q2, serving as a primary growth engine of the domestic business. By strategically concentrating resources here and building a comprehensive product matrix across key consumer user cases, Niu Technologies has positioned itself for future success.
Niu Technologies' ability to adapt to changing market conditions while maintaining its focus on high-quality resilient growth is a testament to the company's resilience and strategic vision. As the electric two-wheeler market continues to evolve, Niu Technologies is well-positioned to capitalize on opportunities and drive growth in both China and international markets.
