PennantPark Floating Rate Capital Delivers Strong Q3 Results, Exceeding Expectations with Supplemental Dividend Payment
Good morning, investors! PennantPark Floating Rate Capital (PFLT) has released its third fiscal quarter 2026 earnings conference call transcript, and the results are nothing short of impressive. As reported by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Art Penn, the company's core net investment income per share was a whopping $0.26 for the quarter ended June 30th.
This not only exceeded PFLT's current base dividend of $0.08 per share per month or $0.24 per share for the quarter but also triggered a supplemental dividend payment of $0.0033 per share over the next three months, totaling an aggregate supplemental dividend of $0.01 per share. This represents 50% of the excess of net investment income above the base dividend.
As Art Penn highlighted in his opening remarks, PFLT's portfolio continues to perform exceptionally well, with median debt-to-EBITDA at a healthy 4.6 times and median interest coverage of 2.1 times. Loan-to-value stood at 44%, while PIK income equaled just 2.4% of total investment income – one of the lowest levels in the industry.
One notable trend observed during Q3 was PFLT's continued focus on scaling its joint venture, PSSL II, in a measured and disciplined manner. As of today, the portfolio totaled $390 million, with expectations to grow to more than $1 billion of assets within the next 12-18 months.
The results from PSSL II have been impressive, generating a cash yield on invested capital of 12.7% for the quarter. One specific success story highlighted by Art Penn was the meaningful realization from the equity co-investment in a leading defense technology company, with proceeds totaling approximately $45 million on an original investment of just $3.2 million – representing nearly a 14 times multiple on invested capital.
Government services and defense continue to be one of PFLT's highest conviction investment sectors, consistently yielding strong returns for the company. This trend is expected to persist as the firm remains committed to scaling its joint ventures in a measured and disciplined manner.
The Q3 results demonstrate PFLT's continued success in navigating the ever-changing market landscape, with a focus on delivering value to shareholders through both dividend payments and strategic growth initiatives.
With these impressive results, investors can rest assured that PennantPark Floating Rate Capital is well-positioned for future growth and success. As always, we will continue to monitor their progress and provide updates as more information becomes available.
