Rigetti Computing Accelerates Quantum Computing Advancements with Strategic Partnerships and Groundbreaking Technology

Rigetti Computing, a pioneer in superconducting quantum technology, continues to push the boundaries of quantum computing advancements. In its recent Q4 2024 earnings conference call, the company's President and CEO, Subodh Kulkarni, highlighted several key milestones achieved during the quarter.

One of the most significant announcements made by Rigetti was its strategic collaboration agreement with Quanta Computer Inc., a Taiwan-based Global Fortune 500 company. This partnership aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of superconducting quantum computing, with both companies committing over $100 million each in investments over the next five years.

Quanta's investment in Rigetti will also involve purchasing $35 million worth of shares, subject to regulatory clearance. This collaboration is designed to leverage the strengths of both companies, with Rigetti's expertise in superconducting quantum technology and Quanta's leadership in computer server manufacturing. The partnership aims to position Rigetti at the forefront of the quantum computing industry.

On the sales front, Rigetti reported that it sold a Novera QPU to Montana State University (MSU) in December 2024, marking its first QPU sale to an academic institution. The Novera will be located at MSU's QCORE center, which is dedicated to educating and training scientists and engineers on quantum computing technologies.

Rigetti also announced the sale of another Novera system to the U.K. government in the fourth quarter. These sales demonstrate growing demand for Rigetti's quantum computing solutions among academic institutions and governments worldwide.

On the technology front, Rigetti launched its 84-qubit Ankaa-3 system in December 2024. This latest flagship quantum computer features an extensive hardware redesign that enables superior performance. The company achieved significant milestones with Ankaa-3, including halving error rates and achieving a 99.0% median iSWAP gate fidelity.

Ankaa-3 is available to Rigetti's partners via the Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services platform and to the general public through Microsoft Azure and Amazon Braket. This demonstrates Rigetti's commitment to making its quantum computing technology accessible to a wider audience.

In other developments, AI-powered tools from Quantum Elements and Qruise remotely automated the calibration of a Rigetti QPU integrated with Quantum Machines' control system. This achievement showcases the potential of AI in quantum computer calibration and highlights growing collaboration within the quantum computing ecosystem.

Rigetti's progress in the quarter is a testament to its commitment to accelerating quantum computing advancements. The company's strategic partnerships, groundbreaking technology, and sales momentum position it at the forefront of this flourishing market."
