WSFS Financial Corporation Delivers Strong Q2 2026 Earnings, Demonstrating Resilience and Growth Amidst Market Volatility

The WSFS Financial Corporation has reported its second-quarter earnings for 2026, showcasing a robust performance that highlights the strength of its franchise and diverse business model. In a recent conference call, the company's executives outlined key highlights from the quarter, demonstrating resilience and growth amidst market volatility.

WSFS's core earnings per share stood at $1.66, representing an increase of 19% on a year-over-year basis. The company also reported a core return on assets (ROA) of 1.55%, along with a core return on tangible common equity of 20.2%. These figures not only exceeded the first-quarter levels but also demonstrated significant growth compared to the same period in 2025.

One notable aspect of WSFS's performance is its ability to maintain strong fee revenue, which accounts for nearly a third of total revenue. This segment grew by 2% on a linked-quarter basis and 5% year-over-year. The company's wealth and trust business led the charge, with a year-over-year growth rate of 17%. Other areas, such as corporate trust and global capital markets, also showed impressive growth, expanding 28% and 58%, respectively.

WSFS's institutional services division has been particularly active in the ABS (Asset-Backed Securities) and MBS (Mortgage-Backed Securities) market. For the first half of 2026, the company was ranked as the third most active ABS and MBS trustee, based on deal count. This achievement reflects WSFS's growing market share, which increased to 14% from 11.7% in 2025.

Client deposits have been a significant area of growth for WSFS, increasing by 3% linked quarter and 11% year-over-year. The company's non-interest deposits have also seen an uptick, reaching 37% of total client deposits as of the second quarter. This trend is expected to continue, driven by strong deposit growth momentum.

WSFS's loan portfolio has maintained a healthy pace of growth, with gross loans increasing by 1% linked quarter or 5% annualized. Commercial lending showed particular strength, with C&I (Commercial and Industrial) growing by 2% linked quarter or 8% annualized. Consumer lending also experienced significant growth, driven by strong demand in the residential mortgage market.

On the asset quality front, WSFS reported continued improvements across key metrics, including problem assets, delinquencies, and non-performing assets. These indicators have been trending downwards for some time now, reflecting the company's efforts to maintain a healthy loan portfolio.
