Ally Financial Powers Ahead: Stronger, More Resilient, and Capable of Higher Returns
Ally Financial, a leading financial services company, has delivered another quarter of meaningful progress against its priorities. In its Q3 2026 earnings call, the company's CEO, Michael Rhodes, highlighted the strong momentum across its franchise and the opportunities ahead.
Rhodes emphasized that Ally is a stronger company today than it was just a few years ago, with deliberate choices made about where to invest and grow. The results reflect a broader story unfolding across the company, with key highlights including:
nearly 15% growth in retail, auto, and corporate finance assets over the past two years;
an increase in core return on tangible common equity (ROTCE) from 5% to 13%;
a decline of more than 30 basis points in retail net charge-offs (NCOs);
meaningful capital returned to shareholders while building the company's capital base.
The company's adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $1.34, a 16% year-over-year increase. Adjusted net revenue of $2.3 billion also saw a 9% year-over-year growth, with non-interest expenses remaining flat and delivering another quarter of meaningful operating leverage.
CEO Michael Rhodes highlighted the company's ability to execute its "story of and" strategy – growing core businesses, maintaining strong capital levels, and returning capital to shareholders. The company's Focus Forward strategy remains simple yet powerful, driven by its people and a differentiated brand and culture that continues to amplify its strategy.
The company also announced its first-ever loyalty experience, Loyally, which aims to move beyond complexity to deliver meaningful value through discounts and seamless experiences with a simple fee-free model. Initiatives like Loyally demonstrate the investments made to strengthen customer relationships and position Ally for the future.
