Altria Group Smokes Out Strong Q3 2026 Performance
The Altria Group has released its Q3 2026 earnings conference call transcript, showcasing the company's strong financial performance and growth in various product categories. As reported by CEO Sal Mancuso, Altria delivered a 4.8% increase in adjusted diluted earnings per share, solidifying its position as a leader in the tobacco industry.
In smokeable products, PM USA experienced operating company income growth through its data-driven approach, with Cowboy Cut further establishing Marlboro's premium position and Basic continuing to gain market share at the discount level. The company also reported significant progress in the smoke-free segment, with Helix expanding on! PLUS 12 milligram nationwide and investing in brand-building initiatives.
According to Mancuso, Altria's highly cash-generative businesses enabled the company to support significant returns to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases. The company recently announced its 61st dividend increase in 57 years and authorized a $1 billion expansion of its existing share repurchase program.
One notable area of growth is the nicotine pouch category, which saw a 5.8% increase in market share during Q3 2026. As reported by Mancuso, on! shipment volume increased 13.3% to 47.8 million cans, with year-to-date figures showing a 7.7% rise. The company's retail share of on! was 8.3%, up one tenth versus the prior year and down three tenths sequentially.
The success of Helix in expanding on! PLUS nationally across various flavor profiles has also driven growth in this category. Mancuso highlighted the introduction of new flavors such as Blueberry Mint and Mango Pineapple, with Watermelon Mint set to join the portfolio in select retail locations later this month.
Looking ahead, Altria's CEO emphasized the company's confidence in its full-year plan and Q3 2026 results. As a result, the company raised its earnings guidance for the year, solidifying its position as a leading player in the tobacco industry.
