AMD Soars to New Heights: Record-Breaking Q3 2026 Results Highlighted by Epic Growth in Data Center Revenue
AMD has announced its third-quarter 2026 financial results, and they are nothing short of spectacular. The tech giant's revenue soared 45% year-over-year to a record $13.4 billion, driven by the success of its next-generation data center products.
Chair and CEO Dr. Lisa Su attributed the company's success to the ramping up of its Helios production, as well as EPYC adoption expanding across cloud, enterprise, and superintelligence workloads. The data center segment contributed 64% of total revenue in the third quarter, a significant increase from last year's 47%. AMD expects this acceleration to continue in the fourth quarter.
The company's server sales more than doubled year-over-year, with both cloud and enterprise sales exceeding expectations. EPYC adoption was particularly strong, with customers deploying the processors across various applications, including agentic workloads that are quickly becoming the next killer app for CPUs in the cloud.
Cloud providers such as Meta and OpenAI have been major drivers of EPYC's success, with more than 10 million people activating Meta's Muse agents in just six weeks. Enterprises are also adopting EPYC at a rapid pace, using agents to work across software development, supply chain, and IT operations.
Head node deployments were also significant, with major wins with several of the largest model developers and cloud providers. EPYC's leadership performance and mature ecosystem have made it the host CPU of choice for custom accelerators, such as OpenAI's first custom accelerator platforms.
In enterprise, EPYC server sell-through was a record, with strong demand from new and existing customers. AMD added dozens of first-time EPYC customers in the quarter, including large financial services, communications, retail, and healthcare companies.
AMD's Chief Financial Officer, Jean Hu, noted that earnings per share grew even faster than revenue, increasing 74% to $2.09. The company's Q3 results have been hailed as one of its most profitable quarters in history, driven by the success of its next-generation data center products.
