Amkor Technology Delivers Strong Q2 Performance: Record Revenue, Broad-Based Growth Across End Markets
Amkor Technology, a leading provider of semiconductor packaging and test solutions, has reported a strong second quarter 2026 performance, with record revenue and broad-based growth across its end markets.
In its earnings conference call on July 27th, Amkor's CEO Kevin Engel highlighted the company's achievements, stating that they delivered "a strong quarter" with revenue reaching $1.9 billion, up 26% year-over-year. This growth was driven by record revenue in computing, automotive, and industrial markets, reflecting the strength of their customer engagements and the increasing value of their technologies.
Engel also noted that both advanced and mainstream revenue increased year-over-year, with mainstream achieving its fifth consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth. This continued improvement demonstrates the breadth of demand across Amkor's portfolio and strong execution by their global teams.
The company's earnings per share was $0.70, a significant increase from the prior year, reflecting the benefits of higher utilization. These trends contributed to stronger profitability and are beginning to demonstrate the benefits of Amkor's strategic investments.
During the first half of 2026, revenue increased 26% year-over-year, with growth across every end market. Communications led the increase, supported by strength in the iOS ecosystem, while computing, automotive, and industrial each delivered strong double-digit growth driven by advanced technologies and increasing semiconductor content.
Consumer improved as demand continued to recover across a broad set of applications. Importantly, growth has not been limited to Amkor's advanced product portfolio. Mainstream revenue increased 21% during the first half of the year, and the overall average utilization percent improved from the 50s into the 70s across their manufacturing network.
Amkor's strategic initiatives are also yielding positive results. Their partnership agreements with key customers, such as TSMC, demonstrate a deeper commitment to supporting next-generation semiconductor technologies. These partnerships enable closer alignment on technology roadmaps and capacity requirements, creating more visibility and planning opportunities for Amkor.
The company's CEO emphasized that "as demand continues to accelerate across AI and HPC applications, we are optimizing our manufacturing network to align capacity with the highest growth opportunities." This approach supports additional participation in high-value computing applications while improving the overall mix of the business over time.
