Artisan Partners Asset Management Surges Ahead Despite Equity Challenges

Artisan Partners Asset Management recently concluded its third quarter 2026 earnings conference call, providing insights into the company's performance amidst both strength and challenges in its business. During the call, CEO Jason Gottlieb and CFO C.J. Daley presented an update on the company's results and investment prospects.

The company's long-term investment results have demonstrated remarkable consistency, with 92% of assets under management (AUM) outperforming their benchmarks over a decade, and an impressive 99% since inception. This showcases the strength and resilience of Artisan Partners' platform across various asset classes, investment franchises, styles, and inception dates.

However, short-term performance was less favorable during the quarter, with relative underperformance across several larger equity strategies. The one and three-year numbers were particularly impacted by the International Value and Global Value strategies, which have shown significant improvement in October, with 75% and 84%, respectively, of AUM outperforming over the trailing periods.

On a more positive note, Artisan Partners' credit and alternatives businesses continued to excel. 100% of its credit AUM has outperformed the benchmark since inception, while EMsights Capital Group has established an outstanding investment track record, with all three strategies generating double-digit annualized returns since inception.

Net client outflows totaled $10.6 billion for the quarter, largely due to the US value team wind-down and rebalancing of a large Global Value client relationship. Notably, credit and alternative strategies generated $1.1 billion in net inflows during the third quarter and have raised $3.2 billion year-to-date.

The company's business development in credit and alternatives remained strong, with credit strategies marking their 17th consecutive quarter of positive flows. Artisan Global Unconstrained Mutual Fund also saw significant growth, raising approximately $770 million in alternatives during the quarter.
