AstraZeneca Sets Stage for Long-Term Success with Strong Q3 2026 Results
AstraZeneca, a global biopharmaceutical company, has reported impressive results for the third quarter of 2026. The company's strong growth momentum and pipeline delivery continued through the first nine months of the year, as revealed in its recent conference call transcript.
According to Pascal, Executive Team Member, AstraZeneca's total revenue grew by 7% in constant exchange rates (CER), with core earnings per share (EPS) increasing by 14%. Excluding Farxiga and Brilinta, the company's total revenue grew by a significant 12%, demonstrating the underlying strength of its broad portfolio.
The company has made notable progress across its strategic priorities, including the approval of four new medicines, including Etcamah in the U.S. This brings AstraZeneca's total number of approved new molecular entities to 14, as it continues towards its goal of delivering 20 new medicines by 2030.
AstraZeneca has also presented positive phase III data for three new molecular entities: tozorakimab in COPD, efzimfotase alfa in HPP, and Sone-Ve, a first wholly owned antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) for claudin 18.2-positive gastric cancer. The company is increasingly confident in its ability to deliver its 2030 ambition and sustainable long-term growth through the next decade.
The company's strong performance is underpinned by the breadth of its therapy areas, including oncology, rare disease, and Research & Development (R&I). These areas delivered double-digit growth in the first nine months, offsetting headwinds from the loss of exclusivity of Farxiga and Brilinta.
AstraZeneca's growth continued across the U.S., Europe, and emerging markets outside of China, where excluding volume-based procurement impacts, growth was 13%. The company has also seen positive results from 12 important phase III programs, including tozorakimab, Volrustomig, and Tagrisso.
Pascal emphasized that AstraZeneca has added substantial opportunities to its growth potential, with the positive readout representing more than $10 billion in non-risk-adjusted peak year sales potential. This demonstrates the strength and diversification of the company's pipeline, underpinning confidence in achieving its $80 billion ambition by 2030.
The platforms and technologies AstraZeneca is investing in today position the company to keep growing well beyond that milestone. The company has also announced an equity investment in Summit Therapeutics, together with clinical collaborations to combine ivonescimab with Sone-Ve and Datroway.
