Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Roars into Q2 2026 with Record-Breaking Results

Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, a leading provider of technologies and services for power generation and environmental applications, has reported an outstanding set of financial results in its second quarter (Q2) 2026 earnings call. The company's performance was driven by the growing demand for reliable electrical generation from various sources, including utilities, industrial, and data center customers.

The strong tailwinds propelled B&W to deliver robust operating results during the quarter, leading the company to raise its full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA target range from $80 million to $105 million. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Young expressed excitement about the increasing opportunities in new utility, industrial, and AI/data center power generation project opportunities.

The core projects of B&W continued to shine, with the parts and services businesses delivering significant growth each quarter due to increased demand from coal and natural gas utilization, particularly in the U.S. This trend contributed to a substantial increase in revenue, net income, and adjusted EBITDA, all of which exceeded both company and consensus expectations.

The pipeline, bookings, and backlog saw significant development during Q2 2026. The total pipeline is now over $14 billion, including 4-6 gigawatts worth of power generation opportunities. Bookings surged year-over-year, fueled by core business growth and the continued development of B&W's Base Electron project in North Dakota.

In the first half of 2026, bookings reached $2.7 billion, a staggering increase of more than 1,058% compared to the same period in 2025. The backlog stood at $2.6 billion in Q2 2026, marking a 533% jump from the corresponding quarter in 2025.

Chief Financial Officer Cameron Frymyer stated that strong global demand for B&W's technologies, along with increasing investment in power generation, reinforces the company's positive outlook. The management is focused on executing strategic priorities, delivering on current pipeline, and maintaining operational and financial flexibility to capitalize on future growth opportunities.

The accelerating demand for reliable baseload power across North America and global markets has encouraged utilities to invest in the refurbishment, recommissioning, and continued operation of existing coal fire generation assets. This trend serves as a catalyst for B&W's continued growth, positioning it to play a critical role in supporting AI/data center expansion and meeting increased baseload generation needs in the years ahead.
