Bank of Hawaii Corporation Posts Solid Q3 2026 Earnings, Drives Long-Term Growth with Focused Strategy
The Bank of Hawaii Corporation reported a strong third quarter in 2026, solidifying its position as a leading financial institution. The company delivered diluted earnings per share of $1.49 and net income of $64.3 million, representing a 0.7% and 1.4% increase from the previous quarter, respectively.
For the third consecutive quarter, Bank of Hawaii has demonstrated improved financial performance, driven by the repricing of its earning assets, bolstered by the strength of its deposit franchise, sound credit quality, and disciplined expense management. The company's results reflect a sustained effort to maintain a stable and high-quality deposit base, preserve balance sheet flexibility, and generate attractive risk-adjusted returns.
"We're pleased with our solid quarter, reflecting continued improvement in our financial performance," said Jim Polk, President and CEO of Bank of Hawaii Corporation. "Our focus remains on sustaining this performance while strengthening the drivers of longer-term earnings growth."
Key highlights from the quarter include a net interest income increase to $156.1 million, with the net interest margin expanding by four basis points to 2.82%. This marks the tenth consecutive quarter of expansion in both measures, underscoring the company's ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
In addition to its strong financial performance, Bank of Hawaii also reported growth in key areas, including commercial loans, which increased by $73 million or 1.2% for the quarter. This uptick was driven by healthy customer activity and solid pipelines, positioning the company for continued loan growth in the low-mid single-digit range.
Another area of significant progress is wealth management, where targeted investments have been driving a meaningful improvement in results. Trust and asset management fees and annuity and insurance fees totaled $45.2 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, representing an 11.5% increase over the same period in 2025.
Looking ahead, Bank of Hawaii remains committed to its strategy of sustaining financial performance while driving long-term growth through focused investments and strong coordination between commercial banking and wealth management. With a solid foundation in place, the company is well-positioned to navigate an evolving interest rate environment and competitive landscape."
