BILL Accelerates Transformation to AI-Native Company, Achieves 16% Core Revenue Growth in Q4
BILL, the leading cloud-based financial platform for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), has completed a significant organizational transformation to become an AI-native company. This strategic move marks a major milestone in the company's history, enabling it to further leverage the power of artificial intelligence to drive growth and improve business outcomes for its customers.
According to Rene Lacerte, Chairman, CEO, and Founder of BILL, Q4 was "one of the most significant quarters in the history of BILL." The quarter saw a 16% year-over-year growth in core revenue, with non-GAAP operating margin exceeding 23%. This performance demonstrates the company's ability to drive good overall business results while accelerating its transformation.
The introduction of AI-powered functionality has been a key priority for BILL over the past fiscal year. Lacerte shared that the company has seen "strong momentum and adoption" of its AI capabilities among customers, with over 175,000 businesses utilizing agents to improve their financial operations across Spend & Expense (S&E) and Accounts Payable (AP). The number of organizations using BILL's W9 agents more than tripled sequentially to over 40,000, resulting in the collection of over 240,000 W9s without any work from customers.
BILL has also made significant strides with its invoice coding agent, which launched in February and has already been used by over 60,000 companies. This agent eliminates around 90% of the coding steps for multi-line invoices, generating substantial time savings and reducing processing times across AP customers by nearly half. Additionally, BILL's touchless transactions agent became generally available at the end of April to all S&E customers and has automated more than 7 million transaction fields for 30,000 customers.
The company's commitment to innovation and delivering software that optimizes financial operations for its customers has yielded impressive results. Customers are now able to save more time, maximize financial performance, and leverage AI with confidence. As Lacerte noted, "AI success is all about this [better business outcomes], period." The value created by BILL's AI investments will enable SMBs to focus on strategic work, catch risks that would otherwise be missed, and drive growth in their businesses.
Matthew May, National Accounting Managing Partner at Sora, a large accounting firm, praised BILL's ability to deliver software that optimizes financial operations for its customers. "We trust them [BILL] because they're constantly innovating and delivering solutions that help our clients save time, improve accuracy, and reduce costs," he said.
The organizational changes implemented by BILL have positioned the company for continued success in the future. With a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, BILL is well-equipped to drive growth and improve business outcomes for its customers in FY 2027 and beyond.
