BJ's Restaurants Roars into Q3 with Sizzling Sales Growth and Strong Profit Expansion
BJ's Restaurants & Brewhouse has served up a scorching performance in the third quarter of 2026, as the casual dining chain reported an impressive 8.1% same-store sales growth and a ninth consecutive quarter of profit expansion.
According to CEO Lyle Tick, Q3 was an "outstanding quarter" for BJ's, outpacing internal expectations and underscoring the progress made over the past two years. The company delivered another quarter of strong traffic growth with moderating check compression as anticipated, and importantly, continued profit growth as operators efficiently converted top-line gains into strong margin expansion.
Traffic growth was a key driver of sales growth in Q3, with an 8.3% increase in same-store traffic helping to push overall same-store sales higher by 8.1%. On the profit side, restaurant-level operating profits increased $11.5 million, and margin expanded 220 basis points to 14.7%.
Adjusted EBITDA also got a boost, increasing $10.3 million and adjusted EBITDA margin expanding 240 basis points to 8.8%. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of BJ's growth drivers working together to drive performance, with the Pizookie Meal Deal continuing to resonate as a powerful everyday value platform.
The company's marketing plan has also been working effectively and efficiently, with the results reflecting progress made by the marketing and culinary teams in aligning product, messaging, and go-to-market strategies. Overall, Tick expressed pride in BJ's third-quarter performance and outlook for the year, citing further confidence in the durability of its progress.
Looking ahead to Q4, performance has been in line with expectations and guidance, as BJ's continues to drive growth building on a strong Q4 2025. The consumer demand remains resilient, with traffic growing while check compression moderates, and interest in new and renovated menu items driving sales.
