Cameco Corporation's Strong Foundation: A Look at Q3 2026 Results

Cameco Corporation, a leader in the nuclear energy industry, has reported its third quarter results for 2026. Despite some expected fluctuations, the company's performance reflects the improving fundamentals of nuclear energy and its disciplined strategy.

CEO Tim Gitzel began by acknowledging that the third quarter and nine-month results were largely in line with expectations, reflecting planned activities and outlook discussed throughout the year. However, there were a few significant items that affected year-over-year comparisons for the quarter and year-to-date. The longer planned maintenance outage at the Key Lake mill resulted in lower production volumes and higher costs this quarter.

The outage was a planned project designed to support the flexibility of the asset and sustainable long-term operations. As anticipated, it had an impact on production volumes and costs. Additionally, last year's payment related to the Korean Dukovany nuclear project in the Czech Republic also affected financial results for the first nine months.

Cameco is not immune to global inflationary pressures, but the company continues to manage through these challenges. Despite some expected fluctuations, Cameco's performance reflects its commitment to a disciplined strategy and improving fundamentals of nuclear energy.

CEO Tim Gitzel emphasized that there were fewer surprises in this quarter's results compared to previous years. He noted that Halloween might have been a few days away, but winter had already brought snow to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, where the company is based. This served as a reminder of the importance of planning and preparation.

The company's quarterly investor handout and slides are available on its website for reference. During the Q&A session, participants were encouraged to limit themselves to two questions and then return to the queue.

Cameco's forward-looking information is based on current assumptions, and actual results could turn out differently. The company does not plan to update these statements after this call, except as required by law.
