Chegg's Employability Revolution: Redefining Higher Education for the Modern Era

Chegg Inc., a leading education technology company, has made significant strides in its mission to transform higher education and prepare students for the modern workforce. In its latest quarterly earnings call, Chegg announced impressive financial results and shared exciting developments on its employability platform.

According to Dan Rosensweig, President and CEO of Chegg, the company has successfully repositioned itself from being a homework help company to an employability company, focusing on helping students find internships, assess and learn relevant job skills, and secure full-time employment. This strategic pivot is in response to changing economic conditions and growing anxiety around AI, which have made it increasingly difficult for students to navigate the job market.

The company's latest innovation is its employability platform, launched on internships.com in September. This comprehensive experience provides students with personalized job matching, resume tailoring, one-click apply, interview prep, skills assessment, and curated network connections – all in one place. Since its launch, the platform has attracted over 100,000 visitors, indicating a clear demand among students for employability solutions.

Chegg's early marketing campaign for internships.com has yielded encouraging results, with significant traction among students and their families. Furthermore, the company is experiencing its first institutional momentum, having signed pilot programs with several top colleges, including the College of Charleston, Salem College, and Radford University. This development marks a crucial turning point in the company's strategy, as institutions increasingly recognize that their own success is measured by the job prospects of their graduates.

Chegg's CEO emphasized that this B2I (business-to-institution) channel is still in its early stages but holds tremendous potential for growth. The company believes it has only scratched the surface of institutional partnerships, and several more schools are set to sign on in the coming weeks.

The company's Q3 2026 results show revenue at $46.5 million, adjusted EBITDA at $5.4 million, and a balance sheet reset that includes eliminating debt and ending the quarter with $43.6 million in cash. This financial stability will enable Chegg to invest in its employability platform and further accelerate its growth.

Chegg's employability revolution is poised to reshape higher education and address the pressing need for students to acquire relevant job skills in an increasingly uncertain job market. By providing a comprehensive solution that prepares students for the workforce, Chegg is redefining the role of institutions and empowering students with the tools they need to succeed.
