Dime Commercial Bancshares Delivers Record-Breaking Q3 Performance, Eyes Expansion Through Strategic Acquisition
On October 20th, Dime Commercial Bancshares, Inc. reported its third-quarter earnings, revealing a stellar performance that has solidified the company's position as a leading commercial bank in the region. The quarterly revenues reached an impressive $135 million, marking a new record for the company.
"We are very pleased with our progress in the third quarter," said Stuart Lubow, President and CEO of Dime Commercial Bancshares. "Our organic growth trajectory is strong, and we have clearly differentiated ourselves from local competitors through our ability to grow low-cost deposits, diversify our loan portfolio, attract talented bankers, and improve net interest income."
One of the key highlights of Q3 was the significant growth in business loans, which increased by approximately $929 million compared to last year. This represents a 30% year-over-year increase, demonstrating Dime's success in executing its loan growth plans. The company's loan pipeline also remains strong, standing at around $1.4 billion with an average rate of approximately 6.5%. Moreover, Dime reported a return on assets (ROA) of 1.10% for the third quarter and a core efficiency ratio below 48%, showcasing its operational efficiency.
Another significant development in Q3 was the company's announcement to enter the affordable housing space through the launch of a dedicated group led by Mike Camoia. This strategic move aims to tap into the growing demand for affordable housing solutions, further expanding Dime's offerings and market reach.
The acquisition of Empire State Bank, signed on October 20th, marks another significant milestone in Dime's expansion strategy. The $600 million asset-sized commercial bank boasts a granular low-cost deposit base and a low-risk LTV loan portfolio. This strategic move will enable Dime to establish a greater branch presence in Staten Island and further diversify its customer base.
"We are very pleased to welcome CEO Phil Guarnieri and his team to Dime," said Stuart Lubow. "This acquisition is a very low-risk transaction for our shareholders, given the granular deposit base and low-risk loan portfolio of Empire State Bank."
Dime Commercial Bancshares' Q3 performance serves as a testament to its ability to deliver strong results while executing on its strategic growth plans. With its commitment to organic growth, operational efficiency, and strategic expansion through acquisitions, Dime is poised for continued success in the competitive commercial banking space."
