Ecolab Fires on All Cylinders: Q2 2026 Performance Marks Accelerating Growth Across the Board

Ecolab's Second Quarter Results Exceed Expectations, with Strong Organic Sales Growth and Margin Stability

The company recently reported its second quarter 2026 earnings results, which marked another strong period of performance across its business. Adjusted Earnings Per Share (EPS) grew by 11%, driven by accelerating organic sales growth of 5% and stable organic gross margin. This robust result reflects the strength of Ecolab's growth model and the global team's ability to deliver value for customers every day, in any environment.

Christophe Beck, Ecolab's Chairman and CEO, highlighted that the company moved quickly to implement a global energy surcharge in response to increasing commodity costs. This measure allowed pricing to strengthen to 4% in the second quarter, with expectations of a targeted 5-6% range for the remainder of the year. The surcharge enabled Ecolab to offset the impact of rising commodity costs on its margins and EPS this year.

The company's global team executed exceptionally well through the transition period, absorbing increasing commodity costs while continuing to win new business, grow volumes, stabilize organic gross margin, and deliver double-digit EPS growth. Momentum strengthened across the portfolio, with volumes growing 1% despite a nearly 1% headwind from customer operations disrupted by conflict in the Middle East.

Core businesses showed impressive growth, with Food and Beverage accelerating to 7% growth, Institutional & Specialty growing 4%, and Light Water improving. Ecolab's growth engines continued to demonstrate strong momentum, delivering double-digit growth. Life Sciences accelerated to 15% growth, driven by very strong share gains in bioprocessing and pharma/personal care, as well as improved performance in purification.

The company has been investing heavily in talent, capabilities, capacity, and breakthrough innovation for years in the high-growth Life Sciences business. These investments are now clearly paying off, with the business rapidly scaling as customers move their drugs into commercial manufacturing. Ecolab Digital grew 27%, reflecting strong adoption of software and connected solutions that help customers optimize performance in real time.

Recent launches of solutions like DishIQ, AquaIQ, KitchenIQ, and CIP IQ are performing very well and are expected to continue driving long-term growth of more than 20% for Ecolab Digital. Overall, Ecolab's Q2 2026 results demonstrate the company's ability to execute its growth strategy and drive performance across all areas of its business.
