Enterprise Bank & Trust Continues to Thrive in Q3 2026 with Strong Net Interest Income and Capital Management
The third quarter of 2026 has been a period of continued growth and success for Enterprise Bank & Trust, according to the company's latest conference call transcript. The bank's Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, Keene Turner, reported that the company earned $42 million in net income, or $1.14 per diluted share, in Q3 2026.
This represents a slight decline from the $1.19 earned during the third quarter of 2025, but an improvement over the linked quarter's earnings of $1.09 per diluted share. Turner noted that the pre-provision return on average assets (ROAA) was 95 basis points and the pre-provision ROAA was 1.67%, indicating a strong performance.
Net interest income expanded by $5.9 million to $175 million, with net interest margin remaining stable at 4.30% compared to the linked quarter. Turner attributed this growth to higher loan and investment balances, a steeper yield curve, and relatively stable deposit costs. He also highlighted the company's well-positioned balance sheet as a key strength, providing flexibility for capital planning.
The bank's capital levels moved into its target range, with tangible common equity to tangible assets ratio coming in at 8.13%. Return on tangible common equity for the quarter was 10.74%, a slight improvement over the linked quarter's result of 10.39%. Capital management actions included the repurchase of over 525,000 shares totaling $34 million and increasing the quarterly dividend by one cent to $0.36 per common share for the fourth quarter.
Loan and deposit growth continued in Q3 2026, with loan balances growing by $452 million in the quarter. Turner noted that pipelines suggest mid-to-high single-digit growth for the remainder of 2026, normalizing back to mid-single digit growth for the first part of 2027. Total deposits exceeded $15 billion at quarter end, with growth coming in at $624 million.
The company's diversified deposit base remains a differentiator, with DDA (demand deposit accounts) to total deposits coming in at 33%. The loan-to-deposit ratio is 82%, reflecting the bank's focus on building full relationships with customers. Credit statistics remained elevated in the quarter, with $11 million in net charge-offs and a higher-than-expected provision expense.
The company continues to prioritize improvement in loan credit quality, particularly in Southern California where it has struggled with non-performing assets. Turner noted that the bank is working to resolve issues related to OREO (other real estate owned) properties and is taking steps to improve its credit statistics. Overall, Enterprise Bank & Trust's Q3 2026 results demonstrate continued growth and success, despite some challenges in loan credit quality."
