Ericsson Exceeds Expectations in Q3 2026 with 7% Organic Sales Growth
Telecom giant Ericsson has reported a strong third quarter, exceeding expectations with 7% organic sales growth. The company's President and CEO, Per Narvinger, highlighted the achievement during a recent conference call, stating that this growth was driven by solid customer demand in strategic markets and effective commercial execution.
Organic sales growth was seen across all segments, with Ericsson delivering a gross margin of 47.7% and an EBITA margin of 17%. This demonstrates the company's ability to create earnings leverage through sales growth and cost discipline.
Narvinger emphasized that the rapid development of AI will lead to increasing demand for intelligent and autonomous networks, which Ericsson is well-positioned to meet. The company is investing in optimized AI models and purpose-built silicon to help customers improve their spectrum assets without increasing power consumption.
However, Narvinger also acknowledged the challenges posed by the flat RAN market and rising component costs due to the AI boom. To mitigate these effects, Ericsson has implemented tactical actions such as product substitution and upselling, but recognizes that structural changes are necessary in the long term.
The company has announced organizational changes aimed at improving cost discipline while prioritizing technology leadership and customer support. A new market area, Asia-Pacific, will be created by combining Northeast Asia with Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India.
Ericsson's financial results for Q3 2026 saw net sales reach SEK 59.5 billion, with organic sales increasing 7% year-over-year. Sales growth was driven by Japan, India, Vietnam, and the Middle East, while enterprise sales remained broadly stable and IPR revenues increased by SEK 0.8 billion.
The company's adjusted gross income reached SEK 28.4 billion, with a gross margin close to 48%. Gross income increased year-over-year due to higher sales in mobile networks.
Narvinger emphasized that Ericsson will continue to invest and stay on the forefront of AI development while remaining realistic about market conditions. The company's priorities remain protecting the value of its technology and the profitability of its mobile networks business, even as it faces rising component costs.
The organizational changes announced by Ericsson aim to create a leaner executive team with clear accountability and the ability to move fast in a dynamic market. As the telecom industry continues to evolve, Ericsson's focus on seamless connectivity and rich indoor portfolios will be crucial for its customers.
The company's Q3 2026 results demonstrate its resilience and commitment to innovation in a challenging environment. With continued investment in AI and technology leadership, Ericsson is well-positioned to meet the demands of an increasingly digital world.
