Fabrinet Fires on All Cylinders: Q1 2027 Results Exceed Expectations
Fabrinet, a leading provider of optical packaging and interconnect solutions for the data center and high-performance computing markets, has delivered an outstanding performance in its first quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company's revenue of $1.474 billion represents a remarkable 51% increase from the same period last year and 12% growth from the fourth quarter, with strong year-over-year and sequential growth from all three key revenue categories.
In a conference call to discuss its financial results, Seamus Grady, Chairman and CEO of Fabrinet, highlighted the company's excellent start to fiscal 2027. "We are off to an excellent start to fiscal 2027, with first quarter revenue that was well above our guidance range and represented another quarter of accelerating growth," he said.
Fabrinet's impressive results are being driven by broad-based demand across multiple product areas, including continued strong momentum for data center interconnect, growing demand for data center transceivers, and expansion in high-performance computing. The company's record non-GAAP earnings per share of $4.34 also exceeded the high end of its guidance range.
Looking to the second quarter, Fabrinet expects new program wins and ramps, in addition to growth from existing programs, to further enhance its growth profile while also supporting its industry-leading margins. The company is installing capacity to meet demand for optical circuit switches and multi-rail systems and working with a number of customers on NPO and CPO opportunities.
To support the rapidly increasing demand and new program wins across its business, Fabrinet has taken several important steps. During the first quarter, the company completed its purchase of a new site in Santa Clara, more than doubling its capacity in Silicon Valley. It is already in discussions with a handful of customers about leveraging this additional capacity.
In Thailand, Fabrinet has been expanding at multiple sites and is just a few months away from completing Building 10, adding more than 50% to its global footprint. The company's manufacturing expansion at Pinehurst and its new Navanakorn site are further helping it stay ahead of increasing customer demand.
Despite these significant expansions, Fabrinet foresees the need for additional space based on rapid growth from current engagements, combined with new programs that will be ramping in the quarters ahead. As such, the company has made the decision to begin construction of Building 11 at its Chonburi campus as soon as Building 10 is completed in January.
The outlook for Fabrinet remains extremely positive, driven by its strong product portfolio and industry-leading margins. The company's ability to execute on its growth strategy and invest in new capacity will be critical to continued success.
