Ford Motor Company Posts Strong Q3 2026 Earnings, Eyes Sustained Growth with Ford+ Strategy

On October 28th, Ford Motor Company reported strong third-quarter earnings for 2026, boasting a significant increase in adjusted EBIT and reaffirming its guidance for the full year. According to the Q3 2026 conference call transcript, the company generated $2.7 billion in adjusted EBIT during this period.

The company's President and CEO, Jim Farley, highlighted Ford's impressive performance, crediting "great products, our services, and execution" for driving progress toward its goals. He also acknowledged the contributions of employees, dealers, suppliers, and their commitment to the Ford+ strategy.

Ford continues to focus on its auto business, targeting a new generation of vehicles with an emphasis on North America, transforming its EV business, and global products requiring less capital. The company is aggressively expanding into auto adjacencies such as software, services, and parts while strengthening its financing capabilities. Furthermore, Ford aims to diversify through the introduction of Ford Energy.

Jim Farley emphasized that the objective for this strategy is a more profitable, capital-efficient, and resilient Ford that achieves an 8% adjusted EBIT margin by 2029 and delivers sustained earnings, cash flow, and returns to shareholders. To achieve this goal, the company will focus on delivering world-class quality, particularly through its industrial system.

Key highlights from Q3 include the strong performance of F-Series trucks in the U.S., capturing the highest retail share among all full-size truck brands for the 50th consecutive year and leading sales. Internationally, Ranger leads in several markets, including Australia and Europe. The early demand for the Ranger Super Duty has also been very encouraging.

Additionally, Ford continues to be the best-selling van in the U.S., with Transit dominating the market. In three-row SUVs, the company's Expedition and Explorer brands lead in this segment. Ford Blue Advantage, the company's certified pre-owned program, makes it the number one certified pre-owned brand in the U.S.

Not only does this program enhance customer loyalty but also positions Ford for future affordable new vehicles coming to showrooms. Interestingly, data suggests that customers who purchase used Fords are 50% more likely to buy a new Ford compared to average used car buyers. This presents an opportunity for Ford's resale values.

Jim Farley stressed the importance of world-class quality as the foundation for sustained growth, citing Ford's topping of the JD Power 2026 IQS study and reduction in warranty coverages. He noted that excluding Novelis and tariffs, the company reduced warranty and material costs by $1.5 billion in 2025 and aims to decrease another $1 billion this year.
