Fox Corporation Kicks Off Fiscal Year 2027 with Impressive Revenue Growth and Record-Breaking Earnings
The Fox Corporation has started its fiscal year 2027 on a high note, posting record-breaking revenue growth and earnings. According to the company's latest Q1 conference call transcript, Fox reported revenue of $4.6 billion, a 22% increase from the same period last year. This significant growth is attributed to the company's focused strategy, which has resulted in consistently exceptional results driven by its content and brands.
Advertising revenue saw a substantial jump of 47% in the first quarter, largely due to the successful broadcast of the FIFA Men's World Cup and healthy trends across the Fox portfolio. Distribution revenue also rose 9%, with cable distribution up 10% on increased rates and the strength of Fox One. Notably, Fox One launched just over a year ago and has exceeded expectations for users and engagement.
Ms. Gabrielle Brown, Chief Investor Relations Officer, highlighted the momentum behind Fox One during the conference call. She noted that subscriber acquisitions increased by more than 30% in September compared to the start of last year's football season. The platform also saw a healthy balance of engagement between news and sports consumption.
The company's sports offerings have been particularly impressive this quarter, with historic broadcasts of the FIFA Men's World Cup Final, Major League Baseball postseason, and college football seasons. Fox's America's Game of the Week is now the number one show in all of television, averaging nearly 25 million viewers to date.
Ms. Brown also mentioned that Tubi, a streaming service owned by Fox, had an impressive quarter, with revenue growing 35% year-on-year and total view time increasing by 23%. The platform's engagement was driven by its deep content offering, including a tremendous library, World Cup hub, new originals, and viral content from over 600 creators.
These results demonstrate the company's ability to execute on its strategy and drive growth through its strong content and brands. As Fox looks ahead to the rest of the fiscal year, investors will be watching closely to see if this momentum continues.
