Globe Life Inc. Delivers Strong Q3 2026 Results Despite Challenges in Medicare Supplement Claims Processing

Globe Life Inc., a leading insurance company, has reported strong third-quarter results for 2026, with net income reaching $361 million and net operating income at $379 million. The company's Co-Chief Executive Officers, Frank Svoboda and Matt Darden, attributed the performance to favorable claims experience and successful premium growth strategies.

While the company faced challenges in Medicare Supplement claims processing due to a process change at CMS, United American General Agency division experienced high-severity claims at Evry, which impacted underwriting results. Despite these obstacles, Globe Life Inc.'s insurance operations showed resilience, with total premium revenue growing 7% over the year-ago quarter.

Life premium revenue increased 2% to $865 million, driven by strong growth in American Income and Liberty National divisions. Health insurance premium revenue jumped 16%, with health underwriting margin rising 7% to $116 million. Administrative expenses rose 6% to $95 million, but remained at a manageable level of 7.3% of premium.

The company's positive outlook on policy obligations was reflected in the remeasurement gain related to assumption updates, which contributed to improved net income and net operating income. Globe Life Inc.'s financial health is evident in its strong return on equity (ROE) at 19.7%, with book value per share increasing by 23% over the past year.

For the full year, the company expects total premium revenue growth to be around 6.5%, with life premium revenue projected to grow between 2.5% and 2.75%. Health insurance premium revenue is expected to rise around 15%, with underwriting margin anticipated to grow in the range of 4%-4.5%. Administrative expenses are expected to remain at approximately 7.3% of premium.

Notably, Globe Life Inc.'s use of artificial intelligence (AI) across its operations has enabled the company to maintain a healthy expense-to-revenue ratio. The company plans to reduce this ratio in future years as it leverages AI to improve efficiency and drive growth.

The regulatory approvals for reciprocal jurisdiction have provided Globe Life Inc. with added financial flexibility, enabling the company to continue its business transformation plan and expand dividend income streams.
