Halliburton Sees Bright Skies Ahead Amidst Energy Turmoil
Halliburton Company's third quarter earnings call has given investors a glimmer of hope amidst the ongoing energy disruptions. The company delivered total revenue of $5.7 billion and adjusted operating margin of 12.8%, exceeding expectations.
International revenue was a significant contributor to this success, reaching $3.5 billion and increasing by 9% year-over-year. This growth is largely attributed to the strength of Halliburton's businesses outside of North America Hydraulic Fracturing, which have been deliberately built up through strategy and investment.
Jeff Miller, Chairman, President, and CEO, expressed his confidence in these international businesses, stating that they are "growing, profitable, and winning on technology and our collaborative value proposition." He also highlighted the pipeline of opportunities for 2027 and beyond, further solidifying Halliburton's position in the market.
Despite a decline in North America revenue by 9% year-over-year, Miller emphasized that this recovery is "purely upside" for the company. The North American Hydraulic Fracturing business, while experiencing difficulties, does not hinder Halliburton's growth and margin improvement prospects.
Shannon Slocum, Executive Vice President and COO, also shared operational details during the call, noting that the D&E division significantly outperformed expectations on the top line and improved operating income margins 150 basis points sequentially. This demonstrates Halliburton's capacity to adapt and thrive in the current market conditions.
The company's CEO remains optimistic about the future of oil field services, citing the restoration of production, rebuilding of inventories, and strengthening of energy security as key drivers for multiyear demand growth. His early view for 2027 is revenue growth in the mid-single digits and operating income margins expanding by about 200 basis points or to approximately 15%.
These projections, combined with Halliburton's proven track record and strategic positioning, suggest that the company is well-equipped to navigate the current energy landscape. As the world continues to grapple with disruptions and uncertainty, investors may find solace in Halliburton's resilience and commitment to growth.
