Home Bancshares Delivers Record-Setting Quarter with $129.1 Million in Earnings
In a conference call that highlighted the company's commitment to shareholder value creation and stability, Home Bancshares reported a record-breaking quarter with earnings of $129.1 million or $0.65 a share.
Chairman John Allison took center stage during the Q3 2026 conference call, where he emphasized the importance of management's role in setting the company apart from its peers. "All banks are not created equal in management, profitability, margin, and among many other categories," Allison said, underscoring Home Bancshares' dedication to excellence.
The company's adjusted earnings for the first nine months of 2026 totaled $380 million, solidifying its position on track towards a goal of $500 million. This achievement is all the more impressive considering the challenges posed by market conditions and the impact of mergers like Mountain Commerce, which incurred expenses totaling $12-13 million.
A highlight of the quarter was the company's dividend policy, with Home Bancshares paying out $0.23 a share in dividends – an increase of 9.5% over the previous quarter. Shareholders were also pleased to learn that the company repurchased 1.3 million shares for approximately $39.3 million, generating a shareholder buyback yield of 0.69% in the third quarter.
With this development, Home Bancshares now boasts a total return of 1.71% through three quarters. Furthermore, the company plans to continue stock repurchases during the fourth quarter and is committed to returning capital to its shareholders while ensuring prudence in doing so.
The conference call highlighted several key factors that contributed to Home Bancshares' strong performance, including record profitability, margin expansion, increased dividend payments, consistent return on assets (ROA), robust pre-tax net revenue (PTNR), and growth in tangible book value per share. The company's commitment to prudent decision-making was also emphasized, particularly with regards to its funding strategy.
As Allison noted, Home Bancshares avoided excessive duration risks by not building a large long-duration securities portfolio – a move that has proven beneficial for the company during this period of rising interest rates.
