Intuitive Sprints Ahead in Q3 2026 with Broad-Based Adoption Across Multi-Port, Single Port, and Ion Platforms

Intuitive, a leading medical technology company, has reported strong quarterly results for the third quarter of 2026. The company's earnings release highlights broad-based adoption across its multi-port, single port, and Ion platforms, with total procedures increasing by 15% compared to the same period last year.

According to Dave Rosa, Intuitive's CEO, Q3 was a strong quarter for the company, driven by 14% growth in da Vinci procedures and 31% growth in Ion procedures. The U.S. saw a 10% increase in da Vinci procedure growth, while outside the U.S., the growth rate was 20%. As of the end of Q3, Intuitive had over 13,200 da Vinci and Ion systems installed worldwide.

The company's customers have adopted, operationalized, and standardized on the da Vinci ecosystem to provide their patients with improved care. This adoption has been driven by Intuitive's commitment to innovation, robust training, and clinical evidence. In Q3, almost 7,000 customers in more than 70 countries performed da Vinci procedures at a rate of over 10,000 procedures per day.

Dr. Jamie Wong, Intuitive's Chief Medical Officer, noted that the company continues to see increasing segmentation across its customer base. Needs vary by procedure, site of care, geography, and healthcare system, and Intuitive has been investing to support this segmentation. The company has positioned itself to serve current and future customers with both existing technologies and those in development.

Intuitive's global customer demand across its da Vinci portfolio remained strong in Q3, with da Vinci system placements increasing 28% worldwide. The company exited the quarter with more than 2,000 da Vinci 5 systems installed worldwide, used by over 18,000 surgeons since launch. There is also strong interest in XiR, both in the U.S. and internationally, where customers are leveraging its familiarity, capabilities, and cost profile to build programs around a focused set of procedures.

The company's da Vinci single-port platform continues to play an increasingly important role for customers and their patients. Intuitive's investments in additional clearances and instrumentation are yielding results as SP procedures expand in the U.S. and internationally. The adoption of the new SP stapler is broadening, and the company plans to make a U.S. submission for the SP vessel sealer in Q4.

Increasingly, customers that adopt both multi-port and single port describe benefits to their overall da Vinci programs, with SP opening new approaches for the surgeon while existing procedure demand fills their multi-port capacity.
