LENZ Therapeutics Surpasses 50% Growth Milestone in Q3 2026, Sets Sights on Consumer-Led Commercial Model
LENZ Therapeutics has marked a significant milestone in its third quarter 2026 financial results, reporting more than 50% growth in both product revenue and total prescriptions. The company's President and Chief Executive Officer, Afschin Skjalm Paddock, highlighted the importance of this step forward for LENZ and its VIZZ product during the Q3 2026 conference call.
According to Skjalm Paddock, the company has seen strong momentum continuing into the fourth quarter, with the one-year anniversary of the VIZZ launch marked on October 1st. Over the past year, LENZ has built important foundations and gained valuable insights into what drives adoptions for its product.
One key driver of growth identified by the company is consumer demand generation. Expanding its Tired of Reading Glasses campaign to national TV enabled LENZ to reach a broader group of consumers with a clear message around an alternative to reading glasses. The company's newly established telehealth channel also provides interested consumers with a convenient path to evaluation by an independent licensed eye care professional and, when appropriate, a prescription with home delivery.
These initiatives have helped establish a more seamless path from awareness to evaluation, treatment, and continued use for VIZZ. As Skjalm Paddock noted, the results of these efforts were evident in the company's Q3 2026 financials, with more than 50% growth in product revenue and total prescriptions.
The company has also built a strong foundation with eye care professionals, with VIZZ awareness exceeding 90%. However, Skjalm Paddock emphasized that physician awareness alone is not sufficient to drive adoption at the pace desired. The strongest growth response has come when consumer demand generation is paired with convenient access.
In light of these findings, LENZ announced a strategic reorganization designed to align with its new understanding of the commercial model best positioned to support durable growth in this category. The company will focus on consumer marketing as its U.S. commercial strategy, with a smaller and more focused sales and medical team maintaining important KOL, ECP, and trade relationships.
This evolution is intended to concentrate LENZ's people and capital on the activities that are demonstrating the clearest connection to patient acquisition and sales growth. The reorganization is expected to result in approximately 40 employees, with overall operating expense decreasing by more than 50%. The company is targeting 2027 operating expenses of approximately $70 million-$75 million.
LENZ believes that this focused model gives VIZZ the opportunity to reach more patients and expand this emerging category. The company's Chief Commercial Officer, Shawn Olsson, provided more detail on commercial execution during the Q3 2026 conference call."
