Marriott International Shatters Q3 Expectations with 6.5% Global RevPAR Growth
Marriott International's third quarter earnings call has sent shockwaves of excitement through the travel industry, as the company revealed a stellar performance that exceeded expectations across various regions and customer segments.
With global revenue per available room (RevPAR) rising 6.5% in Q3 2026, Marriott demonstrated its resilience and adaptability in the face of geopolitical uncertainty. The impressive growth was driven by robust demand in luxury and select service hotels, as well as sustained strength in international markets.
One of the key highlights from the quarter was the remarkable RevPAR performance in the APEC region, where the metric increased by over 9%. This growth was attributed to sustained demand across the region, supported by robust intra-regional and long-haul international travel. In contrast, RevPAR in Greater China remained relatively flat due to an uneven consumer spending environment and the impact of major typhoons.
The Caribbean and Latin American region also demonstrated resilience, with RevPAR rising over 3% in Q3 2026. This growth was driven by strong luxury and leisure demand across the Caribbean, which offset continued softness in Mexico. In EMEA, RevPAR rose over 4%, with Europe and the Middle East both outperforming prior expectations.
Luxury hotels led the charge in the quarter, with RevPAR increasing by a staggering 12% in the U.S. and Canada region. Select service hotels also demonstrated solid year-over-year growth, rising over 6% compared to Q3 2025. Group RevPAR rose 6% globally and 7% in the U.S. and Canada, while business transient RevPAR increased by 4% globally and 5% in the U.S. and Canada.
As Jen Mason, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, highlighted during the earnings call, Marriott's strong base demand across chain scales is expected to continue, prompting the company to raise its full-year 2026 guidance to 4.5%-5% global RevPAR growth. This revised forecast reflects the remarkable robustness of travel demand in 2026, despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
On the development front, Marriott's signings activity remained strong, particularly in international markets, with record global organic signings achieved in the first nine months of the year. The company's continued commitment to expansion and growth has positioned it for success in a rapidly evolving travel landscape.
