Methode Electronics Kicks Off Fiscal 2027 with Strong Net Sales Growth, Commercial Momentum, and Operational Transformation Progress
Methode Electronics, a leading provider of technology solutions for industrial and commercial applications, has reported a solid start to fiscal 2027, driven by higher volumes across its industrial portfolio. The company's first-quarter net sales grew 10% year-over-year to $265 million, led by data center-related sales.
Speaking on the company's earnings conference call, Jonathan DeGaynor, President and Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that the strong start to fiscal 2027 was driven by a combination of factors, including higher volumes across its industrial portfolio, led by data center-related sales. "We delivered a strong start to fiscal 2027, with net sales up 10% year-over-year to $265 million, driven by higher volumes across our industrial portfolio, led by data center-related sales," DeGaynor said.
DeGaynor noted that the company's operational transformation journey remains on track, with continued cost actions and margin gains across key facilities. Methode also strengthened its balance sheet through a credit agreement amendment and made net repayments of $10 million while maintaining strong liquidity.
The commercial side of the business saw new awards totaling $75 million in peak annual revenue or approximately $400 million in lifetime revenue, primarily for USMCA-compliant components across power products with either new customers or product lines with existing customers. This milestone demonstrates Methode's progress in building commercial momentum and its ability to secure significant business opportunities.
DeGaynor highlighted the company's focus on investing in higher-growth opportunities such as data centers, while also leveraging its capabilities and footprint to grow in other end markets and applications, including automotive and commercial vehicles. "We remain focused on investing in higher growth opportunities such as data centers," DeGaynor said.
The awards booked this quarter came from commercial vehicle and automotive power applications totaling $75 million of peak annual revenue or approximately $400 million of estimated lifetime revenue. This development underscores Methode's growing presence in these sectors and its capacity to provide innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of customers.
As Methode continues on its operational transformation journey, it remains confident in its ability to drive sustainable improvement despite quarter-to-quarter volatility. With a solid start to fiscal 2027 under its belt, Methode is well-positioned for continued growth and success in the years ahead.
