Metropolitan Commercial Bank Delivers Strong Q3 2026 Results: Record Profitability and Growing Momentum

Metropolitan Commercial Bank (MCB) has reported a robust set of third-quarter 2026 results, with diluted earnings per share reaching $2.58. The bank's commercial business model continues to demonstrate its earnings power, driven by disciplined execution across the franchise.

The quarter saw significant growth in net interest income, increasing nearly 8% from the prior quarter and more than 25% from a year ago. This was achieved through a combination of quality loan growth and lower funding costs. Total cost of funds continued to decline, contributing to meaningful margin expansion and improved profitability.

Loans grew to $7.5 billion, up 11% year-to-date, while deposits increased to $8.3 billion, up nearly 13% since year-end. Importantly, this growth was achieved while maintaining disciplined underwriting standards, net interest margin management, strong liquidity, and robust capital levels.

Credit quality remains sound, with non-performing loans below 1% of total loans, and both the company and the bank continue to maintain capital ratios well above regulatory requirements. Reflecting on their confidence in MCB's performance, earnings trajectory, and long-term outlook, the board approved an increase in the quarterly dividend of 14% to $0.40 per share.

Looking ahead to 2027, MCB is very optimistic about the year's potential, expecting it to be transformative for the bank. The continued strength and momentum of their core commercial banking franchise are expected to be complemented by enterprise-wide AI initiatives and the rollout of their payments platform, which will become meaningful drivers of future earnings and efficiency.

The investments made in these areas aim to enhance the client experience, improve productivity, strengthen operating leverage, and expand revenue opportunities. This strategic approach positions MCB for continued success and long-term value creation for shareholders.

Mark DeFazio, President and Chief Executive Officer of Metropolitan Commercial Bank, noted that their strategy remains straightforward: disciplined growth, prudent risk management, a tech-focused approach, strong capital generation, and a relentless focus on serving clients. The financial performance delivered and the investments made give them confidence in their ability to continue creating value for shareholders.
