Mettler-Toledo's Q2 2026 Earnings Shine: Strong Organic Sales Growth and Improved Market Conditions
Mettler-Toledo, a leading provider of laboratory and industrial measurement solutions, recently released its second quarter 2026 earnings results, showcasing impressive organic sales growth across its portfolio. According to Patrick Kaltenbach, the company's Chief Executive Officer, 'our Q2 results were strong and reflected better-than-expected organic sales growth across our portfolio, including very good growth in China and emerging markets.'"
The company's quarterly sales of $1 billion represent a 7% increase in US dollars and 6% growth in local currency, surpassing its prior guidance of approximately 3% local currency sales growth. Acquisitions contributed around 1.5% to sales growth, with organic local currency sales growth standing at 4%. Broken down by region, organic sales excluding acquisition and tariff refunds increased by 1% in the Americas, 4% in Europe, and a remarkable 9% in Asia/rest of world, including a 9% surge in China.
The company's core product areas also demonstrated significant growth. Laboratory sales rose by 4%, while industrial sales grew by 3%, with a 4% increase in core industrial products and a 1% growth in Product Inspection. Food Retail experienced an impressive 11% expansion, and service revenue increased by 9%. Notably, these gains were achieved despite the offsetting effects of tariffs.
The company's adjusted gross margin stood at 59.3%, representing a 30-basis-point increase. Excluding unfavorable foreign currency and acquisitions, gross margin expanded approximately 90 basis points due to benefits from favorable price realization, lower tariff rates compared to the prior year, volume growth in productivity initiatives, and cost savings partly offset by higher transportation costs.
The company's strategic initiatives and agility in capturing growth opportunities are expected to drive solid financial performance moving forward. As Patrick Kaltenbach noted, 'we are optimistic market conditions will gradually improve,' with Mettler-Toledo poised to capitalize on trends in automation, digitalization, and onshoring investments. The company remains confident that strong execution of its strategic initiatives will deliver strong results."
