Minerals Technologies Shines in Q3 with Record Operating Performance

Minerals Technologies, a leading global supplier of minerals-based performance materials, has reported an impressive set of results for the third quarter of 2026. The company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Doug Dietrich, and Chief Financial Officer, Erik Aldag, presented the quarterly earnings during a conference call on October 30th.

Minerals Technologies recorded sales of $555 million in Q3, representing a 4% increase over the same period last year and a 6% rise year-to-date. The company's Engineered Solutions segment delivered a record operating performance, with sales growth of 9%, operating income growth of 9%, and operating margins of 17.6%. This segment is on track for a record year, driven by strong demand in various markets, including high-temperature technologies, environmental & infrastructure products, and foundry green sand bonds.

In contrast, the Consumer & Specialties segment faced challenges due to rising energy, transportation, and raw material costs. However, the company's teams worked closely with customers to adjust prices, which will help recover segment margins to their historical level of 14%. This, in turn, is expected to drive full-company margins back to 15%.

Minerals Technologies' results were highlighted by Doug Dietrich during the conference call. "This is a quarter that I would characterize with some significant highlights, solid top-line growth for the company, and a record operating performance in Engineered Solutions," he said.

The company's cash flow remains strong, with year-to-date operations reaching $171 million, up 32% compared to last year. Minerals Technologies' balance sheet is also solid, with extended debt maturities and an expanded revolving credit facility providing improved financial flexibility.

Looking ahead, the company remains on track to hit its full-year mid-single-digit revenue growth target and expects this rate to continue through 2027. The Engineered Solutions segment's performance has put it in a strong position for another record-breaking year, driven by growing demand across various markets.

Minerals Technologies' Q3 results demonstrate the company's ability to execute on its strategic projects and adapt to changing market conditions. As Doug Dietrich emphasized, "We are executing on the strategic projects we laid out for this year and remain on track to hit our full-year mid-single-digit revenue growth target."
