Minerals Technologies Surpasses Mid-Single-Digit Growth Expectations in Q2 2026

In a quarterly earnings call that highlighted the company's resilience and adaptability, Minerals Technologies announced impressive financial results for the second quarter of 2026.

The company's sales reached $548 million, marking a 4% increase over last year's numbers. Operating income stood at $75 million, while earnings per share came in at $1.60, up 3% from Q2 2025. Moreover, Minerals Technologies' strong cash generation continued to improve over the previous year.

A significant contributor to the company's top-line momentum was the Engineered Solutions segment, which achieved a record margin of 17.8% and earned $49 million in quarterly income – a new high for the segment. This growth was driven by higher volumes from strategic projects and stronger end-market conditions.

The Consumer & Specialties segment also reported notable gains, with cat litter sales growing 9% through the first half of the year. The introduction of new products and an increasing demand for sustainable aviation fuel have positioned this business for mid to high single-digit growth in the full year.

Further bolstering Minerals Technologies' performance was the ramp-up of their RAFINOL bleaching earth expansion, which is now working through a strong order book from sustainable aviation fuel customers. New Fabricare product production is also gaining momentum and expected to strengthen sales early in the fourth quarter.

Paper and packaging sales saw significant growth, rising 7% for the year so far, with three new satellite facility launches progressing as planned. Meanwhile, High-Temperature Technologies has experienced strong sales driven by MinScan installations and higher foundry sales in Asia.

However, the company faced challenges due to persistent inflation, which increased energy, transportation, and raw material costs. Despite this, Minerals Technologies successfully adjusted pricing across all product lines, with the majority of positive price increases now taking effect.

"Our top-line momentum has continued, with sales growing 7% for the first half of the year," said Doug Dietrich, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We're pleased with our performance and confident in our ability to deliver mid-single-digit growth for the full year."

Minerals Technologies' Q2 results demonstrate its capacity to navigate industry challenges while driving innovation and growth across key segments. As the company looks ahead to an Investor Day on September 22nd, stakeholders will undoubtedly be eager to learn more about its strategic plans and vision for future success."
