MongoDB's Q2 2027 Results: A Record-Breaking Quarter for the Real-Time Intelligent Data Platform

In its most recent quarterly earnings call, MongoDB, a leading provider of real-time data platform services, announced a strong second quarter (Q2) fiscal 2027 performance. The company reported total revenue of $772 million, representing a 30% year-over-year growth and the highest level of quarterly growth seen since fiscal year 2024.

The impressive results were driven by several key factors, including the continued growth of Atlas revenue, which rose approximately 29% year-over-year for the fifth consecutive quarter. This growth was largely attributed to large enterprise customers and building momentum in AI workloads. Additionally, Enterprise Advanced (EA) and other business segments experienced a standout quarter, growing 36% year-over-year due to widespread strength driven by MongoDB's run-anywhere capabilities.

MongoDB's non-GAAP operating margin stood at 24%, fueled by the company's strong revenue growth. The company also reported a record 2,900 net new customers added in the period, bringing its total customer base to 70,600. Furthermore, Voyage customer count nearly doubled quarter-over-quarter, and Atlas Vector Search adoption continues to outpace the growth of the rest of the company, showcasing strong early momentum for AI workloads.

According to CJ Desai, President and CEO of MongoDB, the company's core business remains strong, and its run-anywhere advantage is a key differentiator for this quarter's growth across both Atlas and EA. Enterprises across various sectors, including financial services, healthcare, and tech, are running their most demanding mission-critical workloads on MongoDB, with the company winning more workloads each quarter.

MongoDB is increasingly being chosen by these same enterprises, as well as AI natives, for its platform in AI workloads. This is evident in the adoption of Atlas Vector Search and Voyage AI embeddings. The company's performance in Q2 has instilled confidence in Desai that MongoDB is emerging as the real-time intelligent data platform for modern applications in the multi-cloud and AI era.

Desai highlighted that customers already running a large part of their data estate on MongoDB are building agents on top of that data, which is a natural extension. This approach allows the data an agent actually needs to be live operational data, not a stale copy sitting in a warehouse. Search, vector search, and embeddings are built-in, not bolted on, so rather than agents connecting to many separate systems, they connect to one platform.

Desai noted that this trend is being seen across industries in various use cases, including the retrieval of internal knowledge, customer-facing chatbots and agents, or fraud and identity workflows. The Financial Times has already leveraged MongoDB to power AI-driven discovery, reaching millions of readers with interactive experiences at scale.
